Four inspiring days diving into the rich musical traditions of Turkey and the Balkans , guided by experienced musicians and educators Mosh Zehavi and Madhav Haridas.
Join us for an intensive exploration of Turkish Maqam and Balkan music through a carefully chosen repertoire of songs. Together we will explore melody, ornamentation, improvisation, ensemble playing, rhythms and folk in a practical and creative setting. Along the way, we will learn the Maqam theory that forms the foundation of the compositions we study, while also developing an understanding of musical phrasing and expression.

Music will be taught primarily by ear, with an emphasis on listening, participation, and collective music-making.

The workshop concludes with a public performance featuring the participants and teachers.

Meet Our Teachers
Madhav Haridas is a saxophonist, bansuri player, composer,
and educator working at the intersection of Indian classical music, jazz, and world music.

Born in France, he spent over 15 years in India, immersing himself in the study of Carnatic and Hindustani music through intensive traditional training. His work today draws on the language of raga, improvisation, and cross-cultural musical dialogue.

Nowadays, Madhav performs internationally in Indian classical, Balkan, jazz, fusion, and world music projects. He has collaborated with artists including Zohar Fresco, Maati Baani, The Turbans, Ofer Mizrahi, Moshe Zehavi, Baba Ganesh, and the Bombaras Balkan Band.

A dedicated teacher for more than a decade, Madhav leads workshops and private study programs while developing original music through the Madhav Haridas Quartet, an ensemble exploring contemporary Indo-jazz composition and improvisation.
Mosh Zehavi is a guitarist, vocalist, composer, and educator whose work bridges Balkan, Turkish, Middle Eastern, and contemporary world music traditions.
For over three decades, his musical path has been shaped by travel, cultural exchange, and continuous study. Since the age of nineteen, he has lived a largely nomadic life, moving between Europe, India, and other musical crossroads, learning from teachers, fellow musicians, and the living traditions he encountered along the way.

This journey continues to inform both his artistic vision and his approach to teaching.
Mosh is the founder and creative force behind projects such as Shishko Disco and Kavana, and was also a member, composer, and performer
with the internationally acclaimed London-based ensemble The Turbans. Throughout his career, he has performed extensively across Europe and India, creating original music inspired by maqam, Balkan traditions, and contemporary improvisation.

Known for his distinctive approach to expressing maqam on the guitar through microtonal techniques and modified fret systems, Mosh has developed a musical language that combines modal traditions, modern harmony, and improvisation. His work seeks to build meaningful connections between musical cultures while honoring the unique character and depth of each tradition.
Alongside his performing and recording career, he has been teaching for more than a decade, guiding musicians through repertoire, ensemble playing, maqam, rhythm, improvisation, and creative musical expression.
